today is my first anniversary as a jwn member.
it's hard to believe that only a year has passed since i joined, but i feel that's a testament to how much i have been welcomed and made to feel like part of the furniture.. i would very much like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the forum for the immense help and assistance i have received, particularly in my first few weeks/months of posting.
it truly was a lifeline at a very distressing time for me.

btt This is truly a must see. What Mr. Simons described is what I went through in the hall I attended. The child molesters were allowed to interact with everyone and no one knew. There are just too many stories out there like this. The elders told me also that they were going to "watch the children" just like Candace and Mr. Simons said. It is truly amazing that this is happening.

born in 1950, he apparently became a regular pioneer in 1971.. but wait.... let's just say that he enlisted (or was drafted) in 1968 at age 18.... depending on the branch of service, he would have to complete anywhere from 2 to 4 years of service.
yes, duty in hot combat zones was usually limited to 6-months at a time but you still had to serve a total of 2 to 4 years depending on the branch of service.
assuming he only served 2 years, he would have been 20 years old and discharged by 1970.... how did he get witnessed to, complete a book study, become an unbaptized publisher, get baptized and then become a regular pioneer in less than year???.
LOL outlaw thanks for the great laugh.

in this latest video instalment, anthony relates his horrifying experience during the bloody conflict in vietnam.
as a new recruit, he is forced to endure the terrible inconvenience of having his much-needed sleep interrupted by enemy mortar explosions, leading him to make a brave decision.... .

I just had my husband who truly did server in Vietnam listen to this. He was disgusted. My husband saw the real war. He squad was over run and many died. It is amazing that he even survived. He truly just does not talk about it a lot. My husband was an elder for 32 years and he said he would never have given a talk using any of his war experiences, it is just not proper he feels.
My husband said where Anthony was in Vietnam it was in a base camp which was one of the safest places to be if you were in Vietnam and that the bunker would have been a very safe place to be instead of just laying in a bed, and that Tony was crazy to have not listened to direction to get the the bunker and it would not have been a coffin like he claimed but it would have been sand baged and if it was hit probley nothing would have happened to those in the bunker. Also you have to remember Tony was just a kid probably only 19 to 20 years old and he is telling those who have been in country that they are stupid to be sitting in a bunker. How truly arrogant when you think of it.
I have heard that there is a talk of Tony's where he goes off on how he saw death in Vietnam and because of that when Jehovah brings this world to an end he will be ready, to me the guy is just pure sick.
My dad served in the Korean war and he never, never talked about it only just once when I was a kid and he started to cry, I as about nine years old at the time it was the first time I had ever seen my dad cry. My husband hardly talks about the war and when he does it is never like Tony just did.
According to the 06 WT Tony started to pioneer in 1971, I am not sure what year he was born in, if he is my husband age he was really young when he was Vietnam, my husband was 19 when he was drafted. To me Tony just sound like a person who brags. There is an elder in the hall I went to who was always talking about being in the Korean war. The way he sounded it was like he had seen true fighting, etc. One day out in service I started to ask him direct question about the war and turns out he never was in country. He was going to be shipped out and was on the boat to go over seas but he never made it either the war ended or something happened. I was so put off by him after that. But it made sense as he never acted like my dad did about the war he was always so flip and light about it.
Those who have truly served in the war do not talk like that elder did or Tony about it. They usually do not even talk about it at all. My husband said he lost some really good friends in the war and it still haunts him till this day that he served and they did not.

how many times can you excuse failed expectations.
how many times can you justify altering interpretations of scripture.
how many times can you rationalise "new light".
I truly wish I knew It is so frustrating living with someone who gives their life it it.
